An essential tip to my friends who are willing to come to spend the Carnival 2014 in Brazil: do not go to Salvador/Bahia.
In Rio de Janeiro, do not buy tickets to the Sambodrome (parade of samba schools) with travel agencies or promoters of events: direct contact with Brazilians so that they acquire the ticket for you. There is a group specialized in purchasing tickets for the tourist coming from the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan, are paying far less than the extortionate prices charged by travel agencies and event promoters (50% less).
